CHEVIOT, Ohio — This west side community was still abuzz Monday about the number of folks who swept through Saturday night, packing bars and restaurants to raise more than $20,000 for Jessica “Jesi” Rostron.
The young mother who donated a kidney to her best friend’s mom in 2012 suffered a devastating stroke on March 9. On Saturday, hundreds of people packed Cheviot’s bar district for 12 hours to buy donated gift baskets, raffle tickets and food and drinks, with a portion of their bills being donated by the barkeepers.
“It went awesome. I can’t believe the number of people who came,” said Shaun Rostron, Jesi’s husband. “I honestly don’t know that the city of Cheviot has seen that many people in a long time.”
